Tetra - The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker
Tetra was made as a quick costume in July of 2016 and debuted at Otakuthon 2016.
The purple top is made as a tube/strapless top out of a thin jersey knit. It's lined and made with one major seam in the back that was serged. It's very comfortable due to how soft the fabric is.
The vest is made using a retro vest pattern and was altered, shortened and I added in a lining as well. The scarf and waistband are made from the same red fabric. The scarf is basically an equilateral triangle with rolled hemmed edges to avoid fraying. The waist band is lined and the outside is pleated. The pleats are held in place with stitching lines along the side, which get hidden under the vest.
The pants were made using another retro pattern, this one for shorts. It was lengthened to make the capris. The fabric comes from old sheeting with very subtle stripes on them. The stripes reminded me of pirates so I figured it would be perfect for Tetra's pants as a subtle detail. The purple trim on the bottom of the pants are satin ribbons. The wristbands are torn strips from the same sheeting as the pants. They just get wrapped around my wrists and tied and tucked in.
The sword is actually an altered Dollarama toy foam sword. I just cut a few pieces for the right shape and painted it. This was a very inexpensive way to make her sword and it looks decently accurate due to the small curved shape and colour after I painted it.
The wig was styled by my cousin who is incredible with hair. It's a twisted bun that is mostly held up with a lot of bobby pins and hair spray.
